CAT 2019 Entrance Exam Detailed Syllabus

CAT 2019 syllabus includes three sessions such as Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), Quantitative Ability (QA). The CAT syllabus 2019 has some changes such as the number of questions of the Quantitative Ability (QA) section of the CAT exam that has been increased to 38; also the questions in DILR sections have been reduced to 28 to earlier 32. The questions which are not -mcq become 27 in the count. VARC section will also include 7 on-MCQ type questions.

Based on the CAT exam 2018, we can tell that the syllabus of CAT 2019 carries four major components such as
Overall Syllabus for CAT 2019 - Split section wise with overall 100 questions carrying 300 marks
CAT 2019 Syllabus for VARC - The 34 questions on CAT 2019 is carrying 102 marks. The 34 questions are on limited topics.
CAT 2019 Syllabus for DILR - 32 questions is carrying 96 marks. The question topics change every year
CAT 2019 syllabus for Quant - 32 questions carries 102 marks; which are focused on the Arithmetic section.

CAT 2019 Entrance Exam Detailed Syllabus

As discussed, the CAT syllabus 2019 has three sections such as Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), Quantitative Ability (QA). Now in this section, we will discuss the details of each section.

The topics of Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension carries some important topics such as Verbal Reasoning, Syllogisms, Different usage of the same word, Analogies, Foreign language words used in English, Jumbled paragraphs, Para jumbles, Different usage of the same word, Idioms, Sentence correction, One-word substitution, etc. The distinctive key point of this section is that there is no negative marking in VA since the questions are non-MCQ type and the weight of this section is 7-11 percent.

The section on Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning will contain the following topics as shown in the table below:

The key points of logical reasoning are that the section contains both MCQ and Non-MCQ type questions and there is no negative marking for this non-mcqs and negative marking for mcq type questions.

The key points of   Quantitative Ability CAT 2019 syllabus are  the number of questions is 34 and there is negative marking MCQ and no negative marking for non-mcq. It is good to know that the number of MCQs in QA section range from 24-27 and non-MCQs range from 7-10.
